MAXWELL DELIVERS POWER SUPPLIES TO GERMAN LASER LAB
Each of these systems was constructed utilizing Maxwell’s standard CCDS Series 10 kJ/s power supplies operating in parallel. Each integrated system has a built-in control system to allow the user to easily control the Power Supply Module with one simple and convenient remote control interface. A separate module provides a high voltage power junction to integrate the output power from the individual supplies into a single output, as well as steering diodes and voltage reversal protection circuitry. In addition, Maxwell is supplying large numbers of two of its Type SE capacitors to DLR for the same facility: Model 37332 0.040 uF 60 kV and Model 37336 0.060 uF 80 kV. These are low inductance, high average power capacitors specifically designed for repetition-rate pulse power applications. The unique design of this series of capacitors utilizes a low loss liquid-impregnated polypropylene dielectric, extended aluminum foil electrodes, and a special plastic case and rail terminal design for very low inductance. The Maxwell power supplies are used to charge the capacitors over a few milliseconds, which are then discharged in microseconds.
