GENERAL ATOMICS ENERGY PRODUCTS TO REPLACE FAILING CAPACITORS AT SLAC General Atomics Energy Products (GAEP) announced today that it that it has received orders for large DC filter capacitors used in a high voltage power supply at the Stanford Linear Accelerator (SLAC). The capacitors will replace a competitor's units that have been failing prematurely. The capacitor orders came from both SLAC and the power supply manufacturer. GAEP model 32892
is rated at 8.0 uF at 30 kV and is designed to operate continuously
in a high temperature (85 8C) oil environment. The capacitor is housed
in a 12.0 x 16.0 x 12.38 inch (305 x 406 x 314 mm) welded steel case
and the high voltage bushing is a GAEP proprietary low profile design.
GAEP believes that it was selected to replace the competitor's failing
design because of its excellent record of supplying reliable, high
quality capacitors for a wide range of applications.
